Jazsmine Sánchez graduated from Lubbock Christian University in 2021 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Media Arts and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with an emphasis on Art Therapy. Her senior year peaked with a collaborative art show for art minors and psychology majors.

Her love for the arts started at a young age, having works displayed in the South Plains Fair, LISD Central Office, and “Sabor!”. The evolution of her craft and skill ranges from charcoal and graphite drawings, to paintings (watercolor, acrylic, and oil). She also created ceramic pieces during her schooling.

Her inspiration comes from her culture and life’s happenings. She ensures that each pencil mark, brush stroke, color choice, and presentation has purpose when creating.

Aside from making art with her hands, she also makes art with her feet. Beginning at Lubbock High School with Ballet Folklorico de Oro, she has 14 years of dance experience. After high school, she continued to dance with Ballet Folklorico Nuestra Herencia. When Nuestra Herencia disbanded, she aided in the start-up of Raíces Compañía de Danza in 2018.

She has competed locally at the Viva Aztlan Festival and was privileged to work alongside Amalia V.B. Hernandez; artistic director for Ballet de Mexico. Since 2023, she has made several appearances performing at small local functions and participating as a Catrina at the FFAT. Throughout her dancing career, she has been a mentor; assisting with the teaching of steps and choreography. She has also taught summer folklorico classes at the Parkway Sommerville Center. Her mission is to educate the community about the rich culture and history of folkloric dancing and Mexican culture.
